RCC Spun Pipe or Hume Pipe or simply RCC Pipe are pipes which are manufactured using steel reinforced concrete pipe using the centrifugal spinning process. It was patented/invented by walter hume in 1910. Walter Hume was an australian innovator who created a very successfull business based on his rcc pipe invention.  They are also known as precast concrete pipe since they are already precasted ie the casting process is completed before utilizing the product on the site. RCC Pipes are generally used for drainage, storm water management, underground storage tanks, underground sewerage, water pipelines. RCC spun pipes are very strong in nature and can easily have a usable life of 100+ years.  They can withstand high load but they cannot withstand high internal pressure of liquids. That is why they aren’t used where the liquid is transferred at high pressures from one place to another.

The machinery for manufacturing RCC Spun pipes are very simple in nature and it is very easy to put up a RCC hume pipe manufacturing unit. There are lots of such units in India and they are widely used for constructing drainage systems and water irrigation canals.

There are various standards for creating RCC pipes viz. NP1,NP2,NP3 and they generally signify the strength of the pipe. NP3 are stronger than NP1 pipes.
